Corporate responsibility
Glitter’s work with the environment and social responsibility
The environment and social responsibility are two of the group’s basic values. We will take responsibility for how people and the environment are affected by our business which is a precondition for us to grow with good profitability.
Glitter International AB takes responsibility for how its products are manufactured. All employees who work with the manufacture of products that are marketed and sold by Glitter must be treated fairly and work under normal conditions. The supplier assures that these conditions are followed within its and its subcontractor’s works. The requirements Glitter International AB sets for our suppliers and subcontractors include good working conditions, prohibition of discrimination, freedom of association, prohibition of child labour, good work environment, wages, working hours and insurance.
Employees and experts on behalf of Glitter International AB, have the right to at any time visit the supplier and subcontractors works to inspect current working conditions and investigate whether the terms have been met.
We have extensive experience in the jewellery industry. During this time we have also developed an environmentally friendly and cost effective logistics system where most of our long-distance transport is shipped by boat.
In order to contribute to a better environment all shops, offices and warehouses always naturally sort waste (plastic, paper, flammable, inflammable, etc.) into appropriate containers. We encourage all our staff to get involved in environmental efforts at their workplace by, for example, suggesting improvements. When we travel we first try to travel in a way that is environmentally aware.
Glitter’s Code of Conduct and BSCI
Glitter has been a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative(BSCI) since 2007. BSCI is a voluntary, non-profit organization headquartered in Brussels, which works with its own code for social inspections of factories in countries at risk. The most important parts of our code of conduct are listed below. Please visit BSCI’s website as well: www.bsci-intl.org
Hand in hand
Glitter supports the organisation Hand in Hand which mainly helps women in India start their own businesses and become self sufficient. Hand in hand has a goal to eliminate poverty by creating jobs. This is done through a holistic way of proceeding that builds upon five basic areas: women’s entrepreneurship, elimination of child labour, health, development towards democracy and the environment.
